Foust to replace Pastrana in ROC
After word got out yesterday that Travis Pastrana had sustained injuries doing, erm, something, the world was waiting to see who would replace our uber-boy in the international Race of Champions, set to go down at Webley Stadium on December 14. Turns out, we'll be well represented by Tanner "Foxy" Foust, who has quite the résumé: co-host of Top Gear USA and Supercars Exposed, Formula D Champion, X Games 2007 Gold Medalist, Rally America contender and professional stunt driver. Oh, and the ladies think he's "dreamy."
If you're not familiar with the ROC, it's a huge event that brings together the best across the world and the spectrum of motorsport. Foust will be representing America, joined by NASCAR legend Carl Edwards. Our boys will be competing against some of the finest drivers in the world, maybe even people you've heard of: Sebastien Loeb, Michael Schumacher and Mattias Ekstrom, for example. Tight company indeed.
Unlike most other race events, the Race of Champions pits the best of the best against each other in competition on a tarmac course inside Wembley Stadium. The drivers race various identical cars including, for this year, KTM X-Bows, Ford Focus WRC cars and Abarth Assetto Corsas. The winner of the Race of Champions will be crowned Champion of Champions.
The event is anticipated to have fifty thousand plus live spectators and millions of TV viewers watching the worldwide broadcast of the event. This is the twenty first year of the Race of Champions. If you can't make it to Wembly, ROC will air on Discovery HD early in the New Year.
Thanks to Autoblog for pointing out that Freecaster.tv will begin airing the RoC live at 5:30 GMT (12:30 PM EST, 9:30 AM PST) this Sunday.
