I started my day stranded at the Post Office. My 2008 Mazda RX-8 has a fancy keyless entry system. 99% of the time, it works fine. However, every once in a while the car decides that I don’t have the key fob on me (even if I’m holding it in front of the steering wheel, yelling at the car) and refuses to let me start it. It just flashes the key absent light. Typically, I can just pull out the physical key and use that. Not today. The car obstinately refused to budge, flashing a security light at me whenever I tried. After getting out and back into the car several times, it finally let me use the physical key. I consoled myself with a Grande cup of Pike Place Roast from Starbucks.
