2009 Mitsubishi Lancer GTS
The Lancer GTS accelerates like a scalded dog – especially if you bought the CVT version. Mitsubishi engineers have told me that the 5-speed is technically faster, but that assumes that you can drive like a professional. For most folks, the CVT with paddle shifters will feel (and be) faster than shifting the car yourself.
Hot Lap in a Busted Miata
Here’s our ace driver doing his best with an under-the-weather turbo Miata at the 20th Anniversary Miata celebration, March 2009 at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. His best recorded lap time was this 2:09 pass. Shortly after this, the radiator burst. After replacing that, the head gasket blew. Tough weekend for the car.

Snow, Rain, and Mud at the Doo Wop Rallies
Rally is where I found the real heart and soul of racing. Sportsmanship, resourcefulness, speed and gravel all come together to make this sport unlike any other currently going. That’s why fans will hike miles into the woods for a 10-second glimpse of cars sliding sideways through the corners. That’s why half the competitors trust the other half with their lives. And that’s why once you’ve tried it, there’s no turning back.
2009 Subaru WRX
For the last 7 years, the Subaru WRX has been the gold standard for all wheel drive sports sedans. The WRX took the import world by storm in 2002, offering 235 turbocharged horsepower from a 2-liter horizontally-opposed boxer engine and Subaru’s full-time symmetrical all wheel drive system. The car was offered as a sporty four-door [...]

While most of the news coming from the automotive sector is bad, there are some bright spots. Few are brighter than Lotus, however, as the venerable British sports car maker keeps on rolling out one hot ride after another – each sexier than the last.
In the last week, Lotus has announced the new Exige S [...]
