Andrew “ACP” Comrie-Picard is all over the news before X Games
Barely a day goes by without a new press release from Andrew "ACP" Comrie-Picard these days, as the run-up to the X Games gains intensity.
Last week, the Canadian rally phenom was tapped to throw out the first pitch at a Dodgers game down in L.A., and this weekend he's driving a Bully Dog SuperLite truck at the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing event at Lake Elsinore. Can this man ever take a break?
"I've always wanted to race off-road and I'm totally thrilled to be doing this event," said Comrie-Picard. "I grew up on a farm and all my early driving was off-road and trucks so I'm hoping some of it comes back to me!"
It's an exciting cross-discipline entry in a series that has a number of drivers from other motorsport disciplines.
"We're delighted to have Andrew in one of our trucks to see what he can do with his rally skills," said Mike DeFord, Marketing Director of Bully Dog Performance.
The spec-series truck will be branded with NOS Energy Drink livery, Comrie-Picard's primary sponsor in the Rally America series and the X Games.
The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series provides incredible high-energy motorsports excitement in a closed-venue format similar to the old Mickey Thompson series, with wheel-to-wheel competition and challenging courses that include huge jumps.
"I like racing in traffic, we don't get to do it much in rally, but the psychology and strategy of being out on the track with a bunch of other competitive guys is exciting," said Comrie-Picard, "The course's jumps will also be good practice for the big one we'll run in the rally car at the Home Depot stadium on August 2nd at the X Games."
Driving Sports will be on-site and publishing throughout the X Games rally racing competition.
