Coming off a successful 3-year development program with the Scion Rally Team, driver Andrew “ACP” Comrie-Picard is making the move to Ford Racing and Team O’Neil for the 2014 Rally America Championship. Beginning with the season-opening winter event, Sno*Drift, ACP will be piloting the Ford Fiesta R2 developed my M-Sport in the UK and driven to a Class victory in 2013 by Australian driver Brendan Reeves and co-driver Rhianon Gelsomino.
Comrie-Picard is optimistic about his chances for success in the upcoming season. “The Fiesta is one of the best-developed winning platforms on the market, and Ford’s commitment to motorsports in general and rally in particular is terrific.” ACP continued, “Team O’Neil not only has a track record of top results and Championships with the Fiesta, but they’re good friends and teammates; I did my early rally training with Tim at the school over a decade ago. It’s a great package, and we’re ready to win!”
This will be ACP’s first time driving for Ford Racing, but not his first time driving a Ford. He learned to drive behind the wheel of the a Ford 8N tractor and, a little more recently, he won the Black Bear Rally (Ontario, Canada) outright driving a Ford Escort Cosworth in 2006.
Andrew Comrie-Picard has a long history of racing throughout North America. He’s won the Canadian Open Class championship, the North American Rally Championship, is a class winner on the Baja1000, and holds the fastest front-wheel-drive time on Pikes Peak. He is also a five-time X Games competitor and medalist in 2010. He has won the first event of the Championship, the Sno*Drift Rally, overall in 2006 and in two-wheel-drive in 2012. When not racing, he is a television personality, having hosted car shows on Discovery and Speed networks, and is a consulting producer on History Channel’s Top Gear.
With the Team O’Neil and Ford Racing Fiesta R2 at his disposal, Andrew Comrie-Picard is expecting nothing less than class wins at every event of the year, and a Championship title by the end of the year.
